Bhishma who he called father, raised Vidura with his half brothers. Vidura, whose parents were not of royal blood (sage Vyasa had divine but not royal lineage), was not eligible to become a king. He served as chancellor to his brothers.
The Bhagavata Purana, also known as the Srimad Bhagavatam, Srimad Bhagavata Mahapurana or simply Bhagavata, is one of Hinduism's eighteen great Puranas (Mahapuranas).
