We all wish to be happy. Science has proven that happiness not just feels great but also predicts better overall health and a more lucrative job.
But how can happiness actually be pursued? Research has shown that it is dangerous to pursue happiness. Iris Mauss a professor of psychology from the University of California at Berkeley, led research that found that people made to feel happier watching a video clip were actually more unhappy than those who just watched the clip. In the popular press, similar findings are repeated: Ruth Whippman ( New York Times ) argued that happiness is a "recipe of neurosis."
